"DNS - taking big bites of the khandas three cafes deep is a live recording of improvisatory miniatures that mimic the form of collage. It is the first collaborative effort of Joseph Schlam and Alexander Cooper, made in the attic of a childhood home, and launches the label's efforts. Drawing from the duo's shared upbringing in North Carolina's Piedmont region, the duo convened over the course of a week, the results of which prompted the creation of BLTC.

Live improvisation amplified in stereo via two amps, using drums, voice, live electronics, and field recordings.

The intentional aspects of the record draw on discussions of a favorite book of Cooper's: Eugen Fink's Play as Symbol of the World (Indiana University Press). It took an in situ collaborative setting to let the compositional approach unfold. Much of the electronics processing was informed by Pogus Productions' 2004 sextet record Trios, Costin Miereanu, and Jaap Vink. Compositional approaches were informed by Lionel Marchetti, Luc Ferrari, and Dagar vani.

Alexander Cooper is an NC-based artist active since 2010. Previous projects include AHC, Body Boys, and Placeholder. Previous work includes AHC - V (Opal Tapes, 2017). He studied experimental music and art at CalArts with Michael Pisaro and Reza Negarestani.

Given the chance to perform in the dark fresco-covered room of the Emmanuel Vigeland Mausoleum and museum in Oslo, Norway, guitarist Ed Petterson brought his 8-string Weissenborn guitar, various keyboards and a modular synth, using the pensive atmosphere of the location to trace spacious and exploratory works through 15 varied and succinct improvisations.
